The Technology

The Mixaerator generates two vortices in air and fluids – one from the surface and another from below. The two vortices meet in the middle to efficiently and ecologically change the molecular structure of wastes, such as hazardous chemicals and effluent water contamination, and large water bodies such as dams and stagnant rivers.

While the mathematical principles for a vortex using fluid dynamics are complex, the results are very fast and simple. As the vortex draws in atmospheric air, it reduces in size and accelerates resulting in the same powerful forces we see at the bottom end of a tornado. It is these powerful forces which do all the work, not the electricity being supplied to the machine. The machine simply keeps the vortex formation. This is what makes it so energy efficient.

The Mixaerator technology has been internationally patented in all significant markets.

The Mixaerator technology is suitable for a wide variety of applications and the following list is but a small sample. Read about the benefits and test results in these key industry sectors by clicking on the relevant link.

At Rocky Point Cogeneration Plant, Stanwell, purchased advanced water aerators that were custom designed and developed by Queensland company Environmental & Energy Technologies. The aerators are an integral part of Stanwell’s long-term wastewater solution for the plant.

A 2 Hp pontoon mounted Mixaerator was employed to stabilise a 20 ML pond used to store wastewater at Stanwell Corporation’s Rocky Point Co-Generation plant. Prior to installation the Dissolved Oxygen (DO) levels fluctuated from saturated through the day to anoxic overnight as can be seen in the DO trends in Figure 1. This was due to algal blooms in the pond.

After the Mixaerator was installed the DO levels in the pond improved dramatically in just a few days. Overnight levels of DO no longer became anoxic and daytime levels of DO became super saturated. The super saturated DO levels helped to dramatically reduce Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Nutrients from the water. Whilst the overnight levels gave forms of bacteria a chance to establish in the pond, thus reducing the magnitude of algal blooms. The trends in the DO levels in the pond after the installation of the Mixaerator can be seen in Figure 2.
