The Mixaerator continues to prove itself in the fields of pondage clean-up and water recycling as the most effective and efficient system on the market.

• Tests undertaken by the Geelong City Council and supervised by the laboratory at Barwon Water, proved the Mixaerator can completely eradicate the blue green algae and surface algae cell structure in a controlled environment and provide an environment of higher dissolved oxygenation of water which functions to stimulate the biological removal of nutrients.

CASE STUDY – Heaton’s Wholesale Fern Nursery – Queensland

Water flow rate of 30 litres per minute required sterilization of six strains of fungal spores and cysts. Chlorine requirements were three times recommended rate and remained ineffective for control of contamination to fern seed stock and nursery grow out rooms. Stock losses exceeded 40% or $1.6m of stock per annum.

The installation of the Mixaerator resulted in total homogenous contact of ozone giving residual readings of 9ppm or in excess of 850 millivolt. This ensured total sterilization of the water by destroying the outer protective coating of the cysts plus sterilization of all spores which also led to complete prevention of cross contamination. Chlorine usage reduced to 5% of original dose.

The Mixaerator is now fully automated and is consumable free other than utilization of the pre-existing chlorine dose unit at 5% of previous dose. Energy requirements are approximately $5.00 per day as water can be treated off peak and stored in tanks. Overall savings to client of 95% of chlorine costs. It is also anticipated that the client will receive significant financial benefit from a drastic reduction in stock losses.
